lighting

I am undecided about the lighting effect I want in my photographs.

Firstly, I believe midday sun would be nice with some strong silhouettes of the model flying a kite, with the black block of her, the kite and kite strings against a vibrant blue sky and possibly some lens flare would give it a carefree and natural feel. The lens flare would make the shoot not look like a glamourous, timed shoot but a shoot 'capturing the moment', photographing a nice smile, or squinting eyes, or trying to 'steer' the kite...

My second thoughts of lighting is to have an afternoon shooot around 3pm, to create long, dark shadows from the model. I would not want to get my shadow holding the camera in the image as I think this would make the image a bit too 'of the moment' and snapshot, where I still want to create a planned and slightly 'polished' set of images. I think the long shadows would be aesthetically successful but may be not as much as the silhouette idea.

Thinking needed...

Notes: I am not intending to create a typical fashion shoot with outfit changes...I may not have any outfit changes, just do a 'model's own' theme almost allowing the model to create a 'self-portrait' of herself. This would give a humble twist on fashion, as typically fashion shoots are adverts for the clothing and products but I would like to create a shoot to almost advertise the location and nostalgia of my childhood. This makes the viewer think of their childhood and their environment rather than wanting the check shirt or parka coat which is being worn in the image.
